Welcome to the Broadstone Art Society website |
We are a friendly mix of professionals, semi-professionals and amateurs meeting twice a week throughout the year at the Broadstone Community & Arts Centre and out on location in Dorset during the summer months. We started out in 1953 as the Corfe Mullen Art Club with eight local artists meeting in their own homes and although we are still a relatively small society, with 80 full members and up to 20 associate members, we pack a lot into our meetings. There are weekly portrait sessions and still life set ups and our winter programme includes life drawing, workshops, talks and demonstrations by professional artists. All this activity encourages many painting styles using all types of media and this is very much demonstrated in the work on show in our exhibitions. Just recently we were the subject of a final year project by a group of movie students from the Arts Institute in Bournemouth and we found it very interesting and exciting being the subject of an arts project and to view the final result showing just how the society worked.
